Endowments

Endowments are the foundation for long-term stability and sustainability of non-profit institutions.

The AHN Board of Trustees and Administration put a focus on creating and growing an endowment over the last few years to make lasting resources available for the school.

A focus on creating and growing an endowment to make lasting resources available for the school is an ongoing focus. Gifts to the endowment are invested and held in perpetuity as they grow over time and used to support scholarships, faculty enrichment, capital projects, and the overall growth of Holy Names.

Below you will see a list of AHN’s current endowed funds and can read why donors made these important gifts to Holy Names. To make a gift to an Endowed fund or to establish your own Endowment, please contact the Director of Advancement. Your gift adds to the long term sustainability of Holy Names.

Mary Anne ViglianteThe Mary Anne Vigliante Endowed Scholarship of Educational Excellence

To honor the dedication of Ms. Vigliante to AHN, The Mary Anne Vigliante Endowed Scholarship of Educational Excellence was established in 2019. The purpose of the Fund is to support a scholarship for a student attending Academy of the Holy Names who is the daughter of a Holy Names alumna and who shows academic promise as determined by the Admissions Committee.

Rhea Picotte ClarkThe Clark Family Endowment

“Why wait? I believe in Academy of the Holy Names and want to watch the school continue to flourish and grow during my lifetime. I have decided to make a legacy gift to the school now to be able to see the impact it will have on the school and to ensure that other young women are fortunate enough to experience it.”

Rhea Picotte Clark, Class of 1958, Past Trustee, Parent of Alumnae

The Jean Purcell Mastriani Endowed Scholarship The Jean Purcell Mastriani Endowed Scholarship

This endowed fund was established in 2021 in memory and recognition of Class of 1941 alumna, Jean Purcell Mastriani. The purpose of the Fund is to support a scholarship for a student attending Academy of the Holy Names who is academically qualified and financially challenged.

“The Academy of the Holy Names was very important to our mother/mother-in-law and she remained involved with the school even into her 90’s. She frequently said how proud she was to have attended the school. Her life-long friends were her classmates from Holy Names.

We thought about ways to honor her memory and at the same time help an organization that meant so much to her. This led us to meet with the Holy Names’ staff, and we decided on an endowment scholarship gift which would help others attend Holy Names and benefit from the educational experience the school provides.”

The McKenna Family Endowed ScholarshipThe McKenna Family Endowed Scholarship

This fund was established in 2022 in recognition of the education their daughter is receiving at Academy of the Holy Names. The scholarship provides support to a student attending Academy of the Holy Names who is academically qualified and financially challenged.

“Our family is proud to support the AHN Endowment. We feel it is important to give back to our communities and we are so proud to be part of the Holy Names Community. Our goal is help Holy Names alumnae send their daughters to Holy Names and continue the tradition. By contributing to the AHN Endowment, we hope that this will help those alumnae families who need a small bit of financial help to give their daughters the private school education that they themselves were able to enjoy.”

The Arthur F. and Kevin M. Smith Memorial Endowed ScholarshipThe Arthur F. and Kevin M. Smith Memorial Endowed Scholarship

Established in 2022, in tribute to the late Arthur F. Smith and Kevin M. Smith, this scholarship provides support to a student attending Academy of the Holy Names who is academically qualified and financially challenged.

“As a Class of 1991 graduate, it’s very important to me to ensure that future students of Holy Names have the same (or better) opportunities that I had while attending the school. An endowed fund, like the one we established in memory of my father Art (CBA ’63) and brother Kevin (CBA ’90) will be a reliable perpetual source of income, enabling Holy Names to rely on the annual distributions for its students.  We designated that this memorial fund be used to assist Holy Names students in need of financial aid. As such, this fund will generate income to meet the student’s needs today and produce income to fulfill similar needs 20 years from now and beyond. Stated simply, this endowment allows us to guarantee support to Holy Names students well into the future. We believe supporting the future of each impacted Holy Names student will continue to add confident female leaders to the world.”

The Joan Fitzgerald Bailey ’44 Endowed Scholarship

A beloved alumna, ambassador, and caretaker of the Sisters, Joan called AHN her second home for 45 years. She was a bright light and gave encouragement to all she encountered. In honor of Joan’s service and love for Holy Names, an endowed scholarship has been established by her children to provide a helping hand to a deserving student in need of support so Joan’s light will continue to shine.

The Dr. Mary C. Reamer Nemati ’73 Endowed Scholarship

Mary Carol Reamer was a proud member of the Class of 1973. She had an enduring love for music, beautifully captured in her senior quote: “Only one thing matters-that wherever we go and however we go, we hear the music of life.”
Mary possessed a rare and extraordinary gift where she felt and lived music with the rhythm of her life, as she was attuned, reflective, and deeply aware of the needs of others. Her ability to hear and see beyond the “music of life” could be seen in her desire to uplift and support those around her.
A classmate once recalled Mary calming and uplifting students during a school emergency with her soothing and angelic voice.  Mary passed away from cancer in May 2024 leaving behind a legacy of artistry, empathy, and quiet strength. To honor her memory and her love for Holy Names, her family established an endowed scholarship to support a student in need, ensuring Mary’s spirit of generosity to others continues. Mary’s legacy lives on through this scholarship, a tribute to her music, kindness and grace. Her passion for both music and humanity will continue to resonate, inspiring others for years to come.
